Spring has sprung, and that's a big deal in Charleston. Time moves a little slower here, and people take a little more time for one another, appreciating every moment and almost savoring it. This is evident in two St. Johannes Spring events: Easter Brunch and the St. Johannes Tea Room.
Easter Brunch is held at 10 am before Easter worship at 11:45. Families come together, crossing all the generational lines. Grandparents and grandparents sit beside each other, experiencing the joy of being together. Of course, the Easter Egg Hunt helps that cause. Easter Brunch in Charleston has been an elegant affair since the dawn of time. Everyone turns out in their Sunday best, ready for the traditional foods of the day and ready for a greener world to emerge.
Similarly, the St. Johannes Tea Room usually occurs twice yearly in the Spring and the Fall. The Historic Charleston Foundation organizes seasonal home and garden walks throughout the city. St. Johannes is a stop midway on these walks where people can experience a tea room like was done in the heyday of the antebellum South, in the comfort of Gatch Hall, and have access to our restrooms. We have not posted any pictures of those in attendance at the Tea Room, but the photos show those who volunteered for this special event.
