Citadel Cadets Shown Love and Fed

The Citadel is a four-year military school in Charleston. There has been a Lutheran presence on campus for many years, with a Lutheran Campus Ministry run by pastors in the Charleston area. The current pastors are Phil Clark (St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Isle of Palms) and Jeff Shealy (Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in West Ashley). On most Mondays, about twenty cadets regularly gather in a large room on campus where food donated by a local church is served to the students. After the meal, the students participate in a Bible Study, often led by one of the students. Worship concludes the night with Holy Communion as the focal point. 

In October, our St. Johannes women's Bible Study, Diamond Girls, visited the Cadets, serving them their dinner and showering them with encouragement, prayer, and love. On Sunday, November 29, St. Johannes hosted the Cadets for a delicious brunch and included them in Reformation Sunday worship afterward. It feels so good to show Christ's love to these young Christians.
